Finest Traditional Salsa
Our StoryIt was the morning of January 14, 2000 in Garland, Texas when my wife and I came up with our Salsa Mexicana recipe. We took an old family recipe and added a twist to it. The next day we were having a party for our son Michael, he was going to be baptized that morning. The salsa was a big hit at the party and from that day on, every time we made our salsa, we had to make more and more. When we moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2008, we started looking for a Co-Packer to make our salsa. It took some time to find the right one, as we wanted our salsa made in a unique way using traditional Mexican ingredients that gives our salsa a fresh and home-made taste. We started Salsa de Skaggs LLC in January of 2010, in our home in hopes that some day we would become a great salsa company. Today we’re proud to have 7 labels; Salsa Mexicana Medium and Hot, Salsa Roasted Chile Medium and Hot, Ranchero Fire, Salsa Verde Hot and Chipotle Cream Dip and Sauce, with 2 more to be out in mid-year 2012. |
Where did the name Tio Mike’s Salsa come from?We wanted a name that would tell our customer what our salsas are all about. It is salsas made by a Texan with the traditional Mexican flavors and home-made taste. My wife and her family are from Mexico, and when our nieces and nephews would come up to visit, they would always asked for our salsa. (They loved it). And when we were trying to come up with that all importation name for our salsa, Carla, our oldest niece said to use the name that the family calls it, ”Tio Mike’s salsa,” and so that is what we did, and that is where the name Tio Mike's Salsa came from.Tio Mike |
